CINCINNATI, OH - The DePaul volleyball team made their 2017 BIG EAST debut on Wednesday night. After winning the first set of a thrilling five-set match, the Blue Demons dropped the match to Xavier, 3-2 (25-16, 19-25, 21-25, 25-20, 12-15). This makes DePaul 3-2 on the road and 6-7 overall this season.
Claire Anderson and Brittany Maxwell tied for top points, each scoring 17.5 points during the match. Anderson led the Blue Demons with 16 kills and passed her career best with 60 attacks. Maxwell helped with 11 kills and 39 attacks and led DePaul with five blocks.
Kelsey Horvath earned her third double-double for the season, racking up 19 assists and 11 digs.
The Blue Demons are back at home this weekend. DePaul hosts St. John's on Friday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. and Seton Hall on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the McGrath-Phillips Arena.
