Clousing and Kuzmenkova Successful on Two Fronts

EVANSTON, Ill. - Alina Kuzmenkova will carry the DePaul banner into the Orange Flight title match on Sunday.
The Blue Demon freshman came back to defeat Iesha Shepherd of Chicago State 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday in the semifinals. She will face Milica Novakovic of Marquette at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
In other singles action, DePaul's Lenka Antonijevic fell in the Purple Flight semifinals to Ava Thielman of Michigan State 6-2, 6-1. She draws Isabel Iglesias of Kentucky in Sunday's third-place match.
Aspasia Avgeri dropped a 6-0, 6-3 Gray Flight semifinal match to Brianna Turley of Utah and will take on Zoe Spence of Notre Dame in the third-place match Sunday.
Marija Jovicic lost a 6-3, 6-3 consolation match to Pittsburgh's Claudia Bartolome. In the Round Robin Flight, Milica Tesic won her second consecutive Wildcat Invite match 6-1, DF against Milica Panic of Montana.
In doubles, Avgeri and Kuzmenkova fell 8-1 to the Fighting Irish tandem of Cameron Corse and Zoe Spence. The DePaul duo then dropped a 7-6 decision to Brianna Turley and Leah Heimulu of Utah.
Jovicic and Antonijevic lost 6-3 to the Pittsburgh team of Callie Frey and Luisa Varon.
Sunday action will begin at 9 a.m.
At the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships where the prequalifying matches were held at Pepperdine, Keisha Clousing won her opening match 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 over Anja Dokic of Boise State. In the second round, Clousing came up short 7-6, 6-4 against Jaeda Daniel of national power Auburn.
In doubles, Clousing and Patricia Lancranjan lost 8-5 to Becca Weissman and Sydney Van Alphen of Southern Cal. The Blue Demon duo will play a consolation match on Sunday.
