Fast Start Propels DePaul Past Eastern Kentucky

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A fast start to the 2018 spring season proved to be the difference for DePaul in its opening men's tennis match.
The Blue Demons claimed the first four points in a 4-3 victory over Eastern Kentucky Monday at a double dual hosted by Purdue.
Alex Galoustian and Boris Spanjaard began the doubles competition with a 6-3 victory over Ramon van Flymen and Gabriel Ruiz. Fran Tonejc and Tamas Zador followed up with a 6-2 decision over Parth Aggarwal and Nicolas Castaldo.
DePaul maintained the momentum at the outset of the singles round. Spanjaard bested Guillem Sanchis 6-2, 6-2 at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Christopher Casati followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carlos Dodero and Luuk Wassenaar topped Castaldo 6-2, 6-0.
The Blue Demons return to the Schwartz Tennis Center at 5 p.m. for a match against the host Boilermakers who were 20-13 last season and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
