Sophomore posts second top 25 finish of the season

KETTERING, Ohio – Joe McCarthy finished in a tie for 20th to lead the DePaul golf team at the Flyer Invitational. Charlie Spencer-White was tied for 30th as the Blue Demons finished in 11th place.

McCarthy posted rounds of 73, 74 and 73 for a tournament score of 220 (+7) to finish tied with two other competitors in 20th place for his second top 25 finish of the season. Spencer-White was among eight players in the 30th position with a 54-hole total of 222 (+9). He carded rounds of 78, 73 and 71 over Monday and Tuesday.

Campbell Wolf was tied for 48th with a score of 226 (+13) and was followed by Grant Boyson with a score of 237 (+24) and Perry Chong at 238 (+25). Wolf carded rounds of 74, 78 and 74 while Boyson opened with a 78 and 74 before concluding with an 85 in the third round. Chong put together rounds of 79, 75 and 84.

Davidson won the team title with a score of 861 (+9) to finish five shots ahead of Dayton. Illinois State's Joel Durnford won by a shot with a total of 210 (-3).

DePaul returns to the Cincinnati area next week for the Muskies Classic. The three-round, two-day event hosted by Xavier takes place on Oct. 22 and 23 at Meketewah Country Club.
