Blue Demons one of 17 teams playing in Cincinnati this week
CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team plays its final tournament of the fall schedule this week at the Musketeer Classic hosted by Xavier. The event is scheduled for 54 holes over Monday and Tuesday at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.
DePaul joins host Xavier and 15 other program as the field also includes Ball State, Bowling Green, Butler, IUPUI, La Salle, Miami (Ohio), Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio State, St. John's, West Virginia and Wright State.
Maketewah Country Club features a par 71 layout over 6,809 yards with play starting Monday at 8:30 a.m. ET followed by a 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday for the final 18 holes. Competing for the Blue Demons this week are Joe McCarthy, Campbell Wolf, Charlie Spencer-White, Grant Boyson, Bobby Thomas and Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan. McCarthy leads the team this season with a scoring average of 72.44 while Wolf is averaging a score of 72.67 over his nine rounds.
Fall Recap: EKU Intercollegiate – Campbell Wolf led DePaul in his first collegiate event... Wolf (214, 4) finished in a tie for 13th... Joe McCarthy posted the best round by a Blue Demon with a 69 (-1) in the second round... DePaul finished 14th out of 15 teams. SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational – Joe McCarthy (213, E) and Campbell Wolf (214, 1) posted top 20 finishes to lead DePaul... McCarthy finished in a tie for seventh while Wolf was in a group in 11th place... as a team, the Blue Demons finished sixth among the 17 programs. Flyer Invitational – Joe McCarthy (220, +7) finished in a tie for 20th for his second top 25 finish of the season... Charlie Spencer-White (222, +9) was tied for 30th place... the Blue Demons finished 11th out of 12 teams competing.
Looking Ahead: DePaul's final event of the fall schedule is a dual match against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 29. The showdown takes place at Evanston Country Club for the second straight year. The spring slate opens on Feb. 11-12 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play hosted by Ball State in Dade City, Fla.
