DePaul Soccer Programs Earn United Soccer Coaches Academic Awards

CHICAGO - The United Soccer Coaches announced the Team Academic Award winners on Thursday to recognize exemplary classroom performances for the 2017-18 academic year. Out of the 773 Team Academic Award recipients, 191 schools had both men's and women's soccer programs earn the award, including DePaul for the 14^thconsecutive year.

Success on and off the field is a mainstay for DePaul Athletics and for the 11^thyear in a row men's soccer, now coached by Mark Plotkin, has earned the team award. This is the 14^th time in program history men's soccer has been named a Team Academic Award winner.

This is the first time the team has earned the award under the helm of Plotkin.

To qualify for an award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players. DePaul's men's team accrued a 3.57, the fourth highest among the men's recipients. DePaul's women's team posted a 3.74 GPA, the fifth highest among all women's Team Academic Award winners.

This is the 11^thconsecutive year the men's soccer team has won the award.
