Peterson Named Associate Head Coach

The promotion comes after three years serving as assistant coach
CHICAGO – Derrick Peterson has been named DePaul cross country and track & field associate head coach after spending the last three seasons as the team's assistant coach.
During his coaching tenure, Peterson has coached 40 All-BIG EAST performances between the three teams. He also coached Scott Arsenault who holds the indoor school record in the 800-meter dash. Â Adding to record book, he has coached multiple student-athletes and relay teams to reach DePaul's All-Time Top 10 Performance lists.
Having an impact off the course as well, six of his teams have been named All-Academic squads, all of which have been within the top 10 in the country.
Peterson has been instrumental in the success of DePaul's track & field programs as the men's squad claimed the 2017 BIG EAST Indoor and Outdoor championship titles and the women earned silver at the 2018 outdoor competition.
"Coach Peterson has made great impact on our cross country and track & field program since he arrived three years ago. Over this time, he has proven to be a great teacher, mentor and coach for our student-athletes. His tenacity in recruiting student-athletes that fit into the culture of our program and the mission of the university is incredible," head coach Dave Dopek said upon the announcement.
"With Derrick now in the role of Associate Head Coach, I'm excited to see the future growth of our cross country team and track & field program as we move forward in the BIG EAST," Dopek added.
