Tracie Adix-Zins announces four new additions to the DePaul softball program.
CHICAGO – DePaul head coach Tracie Adix-Zins announced last week that Tori Meyer, Payton Lundberg, Brooke Johnson and Grace Frazier had completed all necessary paperwork and will join the women's softball program starting with the 2020 season.
"Our 2019-20 class is a group of blue-collar working kids with the ability to play multiple positions," said Aidx-Zins. "We are excited about the local players from the state of Illinois while continuing building the pipeline to California. Many of our signees have the ability to come in and make an immediate impact on our program and we are thrilled to announce their signing."
Tori Meyer is a senior at Barrington High School who plays first base and doubles as a force on the mound. Meyer also plays for the Chicago Cheetahs.
"Tori is the perfect fit for the DePaul softball program. As a pitcher and utility player, Tori displays the feisty mentality of a Blue Demon while competing for the Chicago Cheetahs organization. Tori will give us versatility on the field from pitching and hitting to playing multiple positions. She wants to compete and will do whatever is necessary to win."
Payton Lundberg grinds in the roles of RHP and first base. Lundberg is a senior at West Aurora High School and like Meyer, plays for the Chicago Cheetahs.
"Payton is from West Aurora and is a teammate pitching alongside Tori Meyer on the Chicago Cheetahs. She knows what it takes to beat hitters. Payton excelled as a young pitcher and has the necessary tools to excel as a pitcher here at DePaul."
Brooke Johnson is a RHP and first baseman from Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, Calif. Johnson plays for the California Cruisers organization.
"Brooke is a standout first baseman and pitcher from the California Cruisers organization. She comes from a long line of Blue Demons and will be able to walk in the door ready to make an immediate contribution. Brooke is going to bring power to our lineup while also being able to contribute on the mound."
Grace Frazier is a first baseman and outfielder and is a senior at Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Ind. Alike Meyer and Lundberg, Frazier plays for the Chicago Cheetahs.
"Grace joins us from the respected Chicago Cheetahs organization as well. She currently works with former DePaul standout All-American Coach Liz Jagielski. Under Liz's guidance we know Grace is going to be prepared to make an impact on day one. Grace has tremendous speed to contribute on the defensive side of the ball and to put pressure on opponents from the left side offensively."
