Blue Demons Finish Sixth at SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational

McCarthy and Wolf post top finishes to lead DePaul
MADISON, Ill. – Joe McCarthy and Campbell Wolf posted top 20 finishes to lead the DePaul golf team at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational. McCarthy finished in a tie for seventh while Wolf was in a group in 11th place while the Blue Demons finished sixth among the 17 programs competing at Gateway National Golf Links.
McCarthy totaled a tournament score of 213 (E) after he carded a 72 ( 1) in Tuesday's final round. He was among four players tied for seventh place and his finished match his top finish set during his freshman year.
After finishing a tie for 13th to start his collegiate career, Wolf finished in a tie for 11th place after he put together a 54-hole total of 214 ( 1). The freshman finished under par for the second straight round with a 70 (-1) on Tuesday after posting a 67 (-4) in the second round on Monday.
Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan finished in a tie for 48th place while Charlie Spencer-White was tied for 66th and Bobby Thomas finished in a group in 73rd place. Gatmaytan shot a 74 ( 3) in the third round for a total of 224 ( 11) while Spencer-White finished at 228 ( 15) following his final round of 81 ( 10). Thomas shot a 74 ( 3) in the third round for a tournament score of 230 ( 17).
SIU-Edwardsville claimed the team title with a score of 842 (-10) while the Blue Demons were in sixth with a total score of 868 ( 16). SIUE's Kyle Slattery led from start to finish and earned medalist honors with a score of 203 (-10).
DePaul is off until Oct. 15-16 when they travel to Dayton for the Flyer Invitational. The three-round, two-day event takes place at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
