Men's Soccer Garners 12th Consecutive United Soccer Coaches Academic Award

CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 17th consecutive year, announced by the organization Thursday. Teams are awarded for their exemplary performance off the field and in the classroom throughout the 2018-19 academic year. Out of 989 total collegiate teams, 345 of those being men, 255 schools had both their men's and women's programs named recipients - DePaul being one of them.

The Blue Demons have earned the award every year so far with head coach Mark Plotkin at the helm but have won the award a total of 15 times.

To qualify for an award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players. DePaul's men's team posted a 3.333 GPA. DePaul's women's team, under the helm of head coach Erin Chastain, accrued a 3.709.

This is the 17thconsecutive year the women's soccer team has won the award.
