Blue Demons Ready for Redbird Invitational

CHICAGO – Coach Matt Brothers and his Blue Demons are headed to Downstate Normal this weekend to compete in the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State.

The men's tennis team will be serving it up for the first time since finishing up at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship Oct. 19 in Columbus, Ohio.

DePaul's tennis players will match up against some familiar foes as the eight-team Redbird field includes the host school, Chicago State, Marquette, Lewis University, Eastern Illinois, Butler and Saint Louis.

Christopher Casati will enter the weekend tournament with a team-leading 6-3 singles record in the fall season. Luuk Wassenaar has gone 6-5 in the tournament season.

In doubles play, Casati and Boris Spanjaard have racked up a 6-4 record while Wassenaar and Lars Peder Minsaas have won five of their eight tournament matches.

After this weekend, the Blue Demons will complete the tournament season at the Nov. 8-10 Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis.
