Track & Field Unveils 2019-20 Slate

Head Coach Dave Dopek announced the Blue Demons' schedule Thursday afternoon
CHICAGO – Head coach Dave Dopek and the DePaul men's and women's track and field teams announced their 2019-20 indoor and outdoor schedules Thursday afternoon.
The Blue Demons' indoor season begins next month on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Blue and Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. Last season, DePaul saw five individual event winners on the track including returners Adam Nelson and Henry Larkin and saw top finishes in the field.
Making two more trips to South Bend during the indoor season, the Blue Demons will compete in the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 7-8 and the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22. Powerful performances by Adam Nelson, Henry Larkin, Kolani Cole and Kyle Casper capped off last year's Alex Wilson Invitational as the Blue Demons garnered numerous first-place finishes.
Continuing the indoor competition travel, DePaul will head east to Allendale, Mich. as the Blue Demons are set to compete in the GVSU Open and the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, Jan. 17 and Friday & Saturday, Feb. 14-15. The last time the Blue Demons traveled to Grand Valley State University, standout Sebastian Feyersinger broke his own school record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.58 seconds on Jan. 15, 2016.
Returning to the Illini Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 16, DePaul looks to continue success built by returners Dominic Marshall, Ben Litwin and Esther Aldana last season. In 2018, junior Alexia Brooks set a program record in the 60-meter hurdle at the same meet downstate.
Rounding out the indoor season, the Blue Demons travel to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on March 1-2. The BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi will broadcast the event.
The outdoor season will begin in the Lone Star State as the Blue Demons compete in the 93rd Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 25-28. During the trip, the teams will also compete in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State on March 27-28 in San Marcos.
Returning to Illinois for the next two meets, DePaul is set to compete at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational on Saturday, April 4 before hosting its home meet the next weekend.
This season's home meet will be the first dual track & field meet during head coach Dave Dopek's tenure as the Blue Demons host the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday, April 11.
"Our two teams have combined to win three of the last six men's BIG EAST Conference championships along with securing two wins and four consecutive runner-up finishes on the women's side," said Dopek. "The student-athletes are excited for the competition and are looking forward to defending our home facility."
Heading west to California, the teams are set to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational and the St. MAC Relays April 15-18 in Azusa and Walnut, Calif.
Rounding out the last part of the outdoor season, the Blue Demons will travel to Louisville, Ky. on April 24-25 to compete in the Lenny Lyles/Clark Woods Invitational where sophomore Henry Larkin tied the program best in the 400-meter dash last season.
The Blue Demons then head up to Madison, Wis. to take on the competition in the Wisconsin Quad Meet on Saturday, May 2 to finish up the regular season.
In post-season action, the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships will be held on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9 in Villanova, Pa. The championship meet will be broadcast by the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi.
Looking to continue the season further, the NCAA West Preliminaries are scheduled for Thursday, May 18 to Saturday, May 30 in Lawrence, Kan. The NCAA Outdoor Championships are slated for Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 13 in Austin, Texas.
