Junior forward leads league with eight double-doubles
CHICAGO – DePaul junior forward Paul Reed was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time in six weeks after recording his league-best eighth double-double of the season against UIC. The preseason second team All-BIG EAST honoree also earned weekly honors on Nov. 18, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9.
Reed turned in another impressive performance on Saturday with 16 points, 12 rebounds, a career-high four assists, two steals and a blocked shot. The double-double was his eighth of the season to lead the BIG EAST and he is tied for second nationally with two other players.
Reed also moved into a tie for ninth on DePaul's all-time blocked shots list and through just 11 games this season, his 37 rejections are ranked 23rd on the single-season list.
Georgetown's Mac McClung was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Justin Moore of Villanova was the Freshman of the Week. Reed was joined on the honor roll by Butler's Sean McDermott, Ty-Shon Alexander of Creighton, Providence's David Duke and L.J. Figueroa from St. John's.
DePaul returns to Wintrust Arena this weekend when Northwestern visits for a Saturday night contest. Start time is 7:30 p.m. in the South Loop. Before hosting the Wildcats, the Blue Demons play their final road game of the non-conference schedule at Cleveland State on Wednesday. Start time on Wednesday is 7 p.m. ET on ESPN3 and WIND (560 AM).
