Reed Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll for Third Time

Junior forward averaged a double-double in games against Texas Tech and Buffalo
CHICAGO – DePaul junior forward Paul Reed was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time in five weeks after averaging a double-double in games against Texas Tech and Buffalo last week. The preseason second team All-BIG EAST honoree also earned weekly honors on Nov. 18 and Dec. 2.
Reed averaged 16.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.0 steals in the two games as the Blue Demons defeated Texas Tech in overtime on Wednesday before dropping Sunday's game against Buffalo.
The Orlando native scored 18 points with seven rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals and an assist in 40 minutes against the Red Raiders. He followed that with his BIG EAST-best seventh double-double of the season of 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds against Buffalo. Reed added five blocked shots, four steals and two assists in 39 minutes on Sunday for his seventh game this season with three or more blocked shots.
Reed also became the 10th player in program history with 100 career blocked shots with his first rejection against Buffalo. He is currently ranked ninth with 104 career blocked shots.
Georgetown's Mac McClung was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Justin Moore of Villanova was the Freshman of the Week. Reed was joined on the honor roll by Butler's Kamar Baldwin, Marcus Zegarowski of Creighton, Villanova's Saddiq Bey and Naji Marshall from Xavier.
DePaul returns to Wintrust Arena this weekend when UIC visits for a Saturday afternoon contest. Start time is 1 p.m. in the first half of a DePaul basketball doubleheader with the women's team hosting Alabama State at 3:30 p.m.
