Blue Demons See Success on First Day of Meyo Invite

Senior Caroline Mueller sets school record in high jump
NOTRE DAME, IND. – It was a successful day for the DePaul men's and women's track & field teams on the first day of high-caliber competition at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The Blue Demons kicked off the two-day meet, held the UI Armory, with impressive performances in the high jump, long jump, weight throw and 5000-meter run.
Setting a new all-time program record, senior Caroline Muller marked an exemplary 1.75m, which earned her first place. The previous DePaul record of 1.70m was set by Kaylah Burks in 2006. With this jump, Muller now stands second in the BIG EAST in the event.
Continuing the success on the opening day was Jade Nolan who earned a spot on the podium in the long jump. Her 5.81m mark earned her second place among her competitors from Loyola Chicago, Indiana State, Notre Dame and others.
In the weight throw competition, Jade Gates threw a season-best and personal record 18.41m. Her throw ranks first in conference, beating out Jennifer Odoemene (18.18m) from St. John's. Shaving over 20 seconds off of his previous record, sophomore Henry Harper set a personal in the 5000-meter run clocking in a time of 14:53.10.
Day two of the competition continues on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Notre Dame, Ind. The morning session will kick off with the women's triple jump at 9:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 1:00 p.m. CT.
