Blue Demons Wrap Up Alex Wilson Invite

Four Blue Demons finishing preparations for indoor conference championships next week
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Looking to get in some finishing preparations before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 22 & 23, throwers Emily Eller and Jade Gates were joined by runners Kyle Mastrangeli and Jessica Watkins at the Alex Wilson Invitational.
The highly-competitive meet was hosted by Notre Dame where the Blue Demons competed for the third time this season. The Blue & Gold Invitational saw Chris Cadet, Caroline Muller, Kyle Decker, Adam Nelson, Henry Larkin and the men's relay team of Kolani Cole, Kyle Casper, Isaac Walker and Larkin take home first-place finishes. Likewise, senior Caroline Muller set the school record in the high jump at the Meyo Invitational two weekends ago.
The UI Armory saw competitors from Alabama-Huntsville, BYU, Michigan, Purdue, Illinois Weslyan, Indiana and Loyola Chicago. This morning's events saw Emily Eller earn a top-10 performance in the shot put with a distance of 13.78 meters. In the women's weight throw, Jade Gates threw a 17.24-meter mark. Gates set her career best at Notre Dame two weeks ago marking an 18.41-meter throw.
On the track, junior Kyle Mastrangeli competed in his first event of the indoor season and clocked in a 7.25 in the 60-meter dash to place 10th in the event. Also in the 60-meter dash, senior Jessica Watkins crossed the finish line with a time of 7.97 to earn an 11th place spot.
The Blue Demons wrap up their indoor season next week in Geneva, Ohio at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships.
