
Max Strus Named First Team Google Cloud Academic All-District

Strus is first men's basketball honoree since 2005
CHICAGO – The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District teams were announced earlier today with DePaul guard Max Strus named to the five-player first team for District 5. Strus is now placed on the Google Cloud Academic All-American ballot with voting coordinated by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Strus leads the Blue Demons with a scoring average of 17.3 points per game this season in 24 games played. He is also second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game. In his two seasons at DePaul, his career scoring average of 17.0 points per game is tied for seventh all-time and he is 65 points shy of scoring 1,000 points in a DePaul uniform.
Academically, Strus is a graduate student at DePaul after completing his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in June 2018. He is enrolled in graduate school at DePaul in the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Leadership program. He is a two-time Academic All-BIG EAST honoree and member of the NABC Honors Court.
District 5 covers programs in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio and joining Strus on the first team is Marcus Bartley from Southern Illinois, Loyola's Clayton Custer, Western Michigan's Seth Dugan and Kobe Webster from Western Illinois.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March. Strus is the first district honoree since Drake Diener was a first team member in 2004 and 2005.
