BIG EAST announces post-season accolades after conference meet

CHICAGO – One hundred twenty indoor track & field student-athletes across the conference were named to the All-BIG EAST team on Wednesday after their performances at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships presented by Jeep this past weekend at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The All-Conference squad is comprised of BIG EAST competitors who finished in the top three in any individual or relay event at the championships. 18 Blue Demons earned podium finishes at the event, setting school records and personal bests in the process.

DePaul had five student athletes claim the championship in at least two events. On the men's side, freshman Henry Larkin claimed silver in the 400-meter dash and the 1,600-meter relay. Senior Kyle Decker marked a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with an impressive 8.12 finish. He is the first in program history to win the title all four years of competition and is the eighth male athlete to do so in conference history.

On the women's side, fellow freshman Isabel Ingram claimed a spot on the podium in the 60-meter hurdles and the 1,600-meter relay. Ingram set an 8.64 personal best in the hurdles. Joining her on the podium in the women's 4x400-meter relay was sophomore Kiersten Walker who also took home the top spot in the 400-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash. Walker's 54.49 time in the 400-meter dash set a new school record in the event.

Earning both the Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer and High Point Performer of the meet was senior Jade Nolan who took the top spot on the podium in the long jump and triple jump. Nolan's 12.36-meter triple jump adds her name to the program record book for the event. Joining her in the books is senior Alexia Brooks who clocked in an 8.25 finish in the 60-meter hurdle preliminary round, breaking her own school record in the event.

Of the 120 named to the conference list, 29 were freshman, 30 sophomores, 27 juniors and 34 seniors. DePaul had two freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors and nine seniors earn a spot on the all-conference squad.
