
DePaul Drops First Match of Spring Break Stint

Blue Demons set to face Old Dominion, William & Mary later this week
RICHMOND -- The DePaul men's tennis team opened up its three match East Coast road swing on Tuesday afternoon with a meeting at Richmond.
The Spiders (11-4, 2-1 A10) evaded the Blue Demons (10-8, 4-1 BIG EAST) on the Westhampton courts by a score of 5-2.
DePaul got off to a quick start with two doubles victories to claim the early 1-0 advantage. At No.1, Boris Spanjaard and Christopher Casati teamed up to take down Josh Keitelman and Matt Fernandez, 6-3. Luuk Wassenaar and Conor O'Meara kept the winning streak alive as the pair won their fifth straight doubles match at the No. 3 position with a 6-3 victory over George Lovitt and John Walsh.
In singles action, Vito Tonejc earned the lone singles victory for DePaul to continue his dual season dominance. The rookie moved to 14-3 this season and 9-1 at the No. 1 position with a gritty 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win over Richmond's Matt Fernandez.
Fran Tonejc and Tamas Zador forced three set matches, but fell short in the quest for a victory.
The Blue Demons will head east for a meeting with Old Dominion on Thursday, Mar. 28 at Noon.
