CHICAGO - Head Coach Marie Zidek has been selected to represent DePaul and coach the USA High Performance Pipeline for the seventh summer. Zidek will be working with the Girls Select A1 program over a ten day period, with the HP Championships taking place July 18-22 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
"I'm humbled, extremely thankful and excited to once again be selected to work within the USA High Performance Pipeline this summer," said Zidek. "The opportunities to learn from our national team coaches, work alongside other talented coaches and get the chance to coach top youth athletes from across the country are transformational experiences. These are not only fun for me, but also add to what I can bring back to DePaul volleyball as a coach and mentor for our program."
The goal of USA Volleyball High Performance is to develop elite athletes at a young age and inspire youths to reach the top level of their sport. High Performance is meant to bridge the gap between Senior U.S. National Teams and high potential athletes.
The Girls Select A1 program is comprised of the top 60 players in the country born in 2004 and 2005 (eighth graders and freshman in high school). Ten coaches are selected to train these 60 players.
Training takes place for five days before the athletes split into five teams of 12 that enter an international tournament, the High Performance Championships.Â
