DePaul Names Marisa Arce Women’s Tennis Coach

Arce spent last four seasons as head coach at IUPUI
CHICAGO – DePaul athletics director Jean Lenti Ponsetto announced today that Marisa Arce will lead the women's tennis program as head coach. Arce spent the last four seasons as head coach at IUPUI.
"DePaul athletics is proud to welcome Marisa Arce as our next head women's tennis coach," said Ponsetto. "Her impressive stints at Princeton and Oklahoma as an assistant coach along with launching IUPUI women's tennis to a new level as a head coach speaks to her ability to teach, motivate and build championship character, academic and athletic success."
Arce has led IUPUI for the four seasons that included a Summit League Tournament appearance and four consecutive ITA All-Academic Team honors. IUPUI marked her first head coaching experience after a two-year stint as an assistant at Princeton. The Tigers won the Ivy League twice while the 2014 team reached the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history and the final national ranking of 36 matched the best ranking in program history.
"I'd like to thank athletic directors Jean Lenti Ponsetto, senior associate athletics director Jill Hollembeak and the rest of the search committee for the opportunity to lead the DePaul women's tennis program," said Arce. "I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead this team, and am very eager to take on the challenge of competing for BIG EAST Championships and competing in the NCAA Tournament. I look forward to working closely with our student-athletes within our tremendous athletic department to achieve success both on and off the court."
Following a standout career at Illinois, she started her coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Oklahoma during the 2012-13 season. Arce finished her collegiate career ranked second all-time at Illinois in doubles wins and sixth in singles victories. She earned second team All-Big Ten honors and Academic All-American recognition as a senior and was the Midwest Region winner of the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
