Blue Demons open up Saturday at home against No. 13/13 Texas A&M
CHICAGO – Despite all the challenges and obstacles of playing basketball during a global pandemic, DePaul coach Doug Bruno has managed to schedule some of the top women's basketball teams in the nation.
All home games will be played at Wintrust Arena in the South Loop.
The No. 19/19-ranked Blue Demons will open the regular season Nov. 28 against No. 13/13 Texas A&M.
Suffice to say, you won't find too many Top 25 teams going head-to-head right from the season's opening whistle.
The last time Bruno & Co. faced the Aggies was the 2018 NCAA Second Round thriller when DePaul fell just short 80-79 in the final five seconds at College Station, Texas.
Texas A&M will be led by Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy candidate 6-foot, 2-inch forward N'Dea Jones while DePaul's Lexi Held is also a Naismith Trophy candidate and teammate Sonya Morris is an Ann Meyers Drysdale Award top 20 nominee.
Two days later, the Blue Demons play host to Chicago State before hitting the road for its Dec. 4 BIG EAST Conference opener at Villanova featuring BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Maddy Siegrist.
They are back in town on Dec. 6 for their BIG EAST home opener against Xavier.
Next up is a midweek nonconference test on Dec. 9 at Kent State followed by a Dec. 13 showdown with North Side rival Loyola.
Perhaps the biggest challenge of the nonconference season takes place on Dec. 16 when No. 11/12 Kentucky comes to town led by preseason All-American Rhyne Howard who is also a leading candidate for National Player of the Year.
That showdown will be followed by a pair of conference matchups, Dec. 19 at home against Georgetown and Dec. 22 at Creighton.
The remainder of the BIG EAST schedule will be announced at a later date.
2020-21 Fan Attendance Information
Under current local health regulations, fans will not be in attendance to start the 2020-21 DePaul basketball seasons. While there is still uncertainty regarding fan attendance for games later in the season, any public tickets for home games during the 2020-21 season will only be available for sale on a single-game ticket basis.
