DePaul to Pause All Men’s Basketball Team Activities This Week
12/8/2020 11:04:00 AM | MEN'S BASKETBALL
Next two scheduled games postponed by pause in activities
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball program will pause all team activities following positive COVID-19 test results among its Tier 1 group prior to the Iowa State game. Due to this hiatus, DePaul's next two games at Seton Hall this Friday and at Villanova on Monday, Dec. 14 will be postponed.
Dates of the rescheduled postponed games and adjustments to the conference schedule will be determined by the BIG EAST Conference office along with the schools and announced once they are finalized.
For reasons of medical privacy, DePaul Athletics will not identify any of the affected student-athletes or staff.
Statement from Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy
"As we continue to abide by COVID-19 protocols, we must pause our men's basketball activities. These are difficult decisions but there is nothing more important than the safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.
I continue to admire the resilience of our coaches and players as we work through these challenging times together. The hard work and support of our medical staff could not be better right now as they provide guidance for all of us.
We'll continue to be flexible to gauge whether we can add any non-conference games to our Big East schedule. We're all ready to see our Blue Demons play and we'll be there soon."
Keeping the DePaul community healthy requires a collective effort. Visit go.depaul.edu/covid for COVID-19 updates, guidance and health and wellness resources.
