Carroll Garners First BIG EAST Field Honor

The freshman’s new PR ranks among the league’s best
CHICAGO — DePaul track & field's Tori Carroll was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, marking the third time this season a Blue Demon has earned the accolade. Carroll's performance in the long jump at the GVSU Big Meet set a new personal best that ranks among the best in the conference.
The Detroit native measured a 5.76-meter long jump that was good for first place in the crowded field of high-level competition. Her mark puts her at second place in the league standings. In addition to dominating in the field, the newcomer also marked a time of 7.60 seconds in the 60-meter dash which ties her for 3rd among the BIG EAST.
Fellow Blue Demon Ashton Colaire earned a notable performance for his time in the 60-meter hurdles. Marking the first sub-eight time for DePaul, the senior updated his DePaul program record with a time of 7.97 seconds. He currently leads the conference and sets at No. 74 in the NCAA's Indoor Qualifying list.
Carroll was joined in the weekly honors list by Villanova's Charlie O'Donovan as men's track athlete of the week, Leah Anderson of St. John's as the women's track athlete of the week and Villanova's Michael Troup earned men's field athlete of the week honors.
