
Providence Too Much for DePaul

Blue Demons fall on the road in regular-season finale
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence put five players in double figures and proved to be too much for DePaul in a 93-55 game Saturday night. Charlie Moore scored 14 points and Nick Ongenda added 10 off the bench to lead DePaul.
A driving lay-up by Darious Hall pulled DePaul (15-16, 3-15 BIG EAST) to within four points at 13-9 before Providence went on a 10-2 run to open up a double-digit lead. Malik White's three-pointer gave the Friars a 23-11 advantage with 12 minutes left in the first half.
The Blue Demons answered with back-to-back lay-ups by Romeo Weems and Ongenda before Providence closed the half by outscoring DePaul, 32-10, over the final 10 minutes. The Friars knocked down eight three-pointers in the first half and took a 55-25 lead into the intermission.
Providence (19-12, 12-6 BIG EAST) didn't let up in the second half as the Friars maintained their lead for the remainder of the evening.
Moore added six assists and three rebounds while Ongenda pulled down six rebounds and blocked a shot. Jaylen Butz finished with seven points and six rebounds while Jalen Coleman-Lands scored seven points.
A.J. Reeves led Providence with 19 points and Nate Watson scored 18 with eight rebounds.
The Blue Demons travel to New York next week for the BIG EAST Tournament. DePaul is set to play in the first round at 9:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday against either Marquette or Xavier. The tournament pairings will be finalized later Saturday night.
