Men’s Basketball Signee David Jones Enrolls for Winter Quarter

Jones joins Keon Edwards on the roster this season after signing National Letter of Intent in November
CHICAGO – After signing a National Letter of Intent in November, David Jones has joined the program for the 2020-21 season after enrolling at DePaul for Winter Quarter. Jones joins Keon Edwards as early enrollees after signing a National Letter of Intent in November.
"These unique times present unique opportunities and to have David Jones join our program now along with Keon Edwards in December this will get both of them integrated into our program ahead of schedule," said Leitao. "David is another great competitor and will bring that competitiveness to our program. We're looking forward to getting him up to speed once he is through the onboarding protocols on campus and is physically ready to go."
The native of the Dominican Republic was rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals and a three-star by ESPN in the Class of 2021. When he signed in November, he was ranked No. 110 nationally by Rivals and No. 123 by 247Sports, No. 16 among small forwards by 247Sports and No. 29 by Rivals and selected as the top recruit in West Virginia by ESPN and 247Sports.
Jones represented the Dominican Republic in various FIBA events and averaged 10.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists at the 2018 U18 Americas Championships. He also led the U17 team at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup with 19.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The 6-6 forward averaged 24 points per game during his junior season at Teays Valley Christian (W. Va.) that included a run of averaging nearly 30 points per game late in the season.
