Both players finished in a group in 13th place as DePaul finishes first half of season schedule

CINCINNATI – The DePaul golf team wrapped up the Xavier Invitational on Tuesday as Alex Vekich and Artemiy Yalovenko finished in a group in 13th place to lead the Blue Demons. Overall, the team finished in eighth place in the final event of the first half of the 2021-22 season.

Vekich and Yalovenko each finished with a 54-hole total of 218 (+5). Yalovenko recorded a 72 (+1) on Tuesday while Vekich carded a 74 (+3).

Conor Glennon was in a group in 30th place followed by Grant Boyson and Noah Kolar in a tie for 39th. Glennon's third round score of 75 (+4) put his tournament total at 223 (+10) while Boyson and Kolar each finished at 225 (+12) as both players concluded the event with a 78 (+7) in the third round. Aarjav Patel carded an 80 (+9) in the final round for a tournament score of 226 (+13) to finish in a tie for 44th place.

Morehead State and Northern Illinois tied for first place with team scores of 864 (+12). The Blue Demons finished four shots behind a three-way for fifth place between Butler, Austin Peay and Xavier with a team score of 885 (+33). Individually, Reece Nilsen from Northern Illinois earned medalist honors with a total score of 207 (-6).

The Xavier Invitational concludes the fall portion of the 2021-22 season schedule with the Blue Demons returning to action in February at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Fla.
