Senior captain posted a goal and two assists in win over Villanova
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer defender Jake Fuderer earned BIG EAST weekly honor roll status after scoring a goal and logging a pair of assists in DePaul's 3-2 overtime win over Villanova last week. Fuderer also helped the Blue Demon backline shut out Butler in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
Last Wednesday on the road, Fuderer delivered a perfect cross to Jack Richards who scored to put the Blue Demons ahead in the early stages of the match against Villanova. Later in the first half, Fuderer slotted a penalty kick to give DePaul a 2-1 lead. In overtime, Fuderer sent a lobbed pass into the box with time winding down. His pass found Jacob Huth who touched the ball to Omar Ramadan who knocked in the game-winner.
On Saturday, Fuderer and the DePaul defense fought off 20 Butler shots to secure an important point in the BIG EAST standings. The completed shutout was the second the Blue Demons have recorded at Wish Field during conference play this fall. DePaul also shutout Creighton in a 1-0 win back on Oct. 6.
Fuderer's goal was his first of the 2021 season. The Blue Demon senior has played more of a defensive role this season after leading DePaul in goals in each of the last two seasons. Fuderer's pair of assists versus Villanova give him five this season, a team high.
