Cross Country Travels to Indiana to Compete in 2021 BIG EAST Championships

Men's 8K set for 10 a.m, women's 6K at 10:50 from the Northview Church Course
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's and women's cross country squads are set to compete in the 2021 BIG EAST Championships presented by Jeep on Friday, Oct. 29 in Carmel, Ind. The 11-team field will race for the conference crown at the Northview Church Course.
The men's 8K is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT with the women's 6K getting underway at 10:50 a.m. Both races can be seen live on FloSports.
The Blue Demons are coming off a strong showing at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 15 in Peoria, Ill. The men's team finished 12th out of 31 teams while the women's squad took 25th in a 37-team field. Dominic Bruce led the way on the men's side with an 8K pace of 24:46.5 to finish 26th while Olivia Borowiak crossed the finish ninth with a time of 21:13.0 in the women's 6K.
At the 2020 BIG EAST Championships held in March of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Borowiak shined for the women with a 15th-place finish, the best for a Blue Demon competitor since joining the conference, at a 21:06.5 clip. Shane Knanishu was the top finisher on the men's side with a time of 24:47.8 to cross the finish in 42nd.
Six Blue Demons are set to make their conference championship debut on Friday including Nina Amicon, Meaghan Andrews, Lesley Viveros, and Madison Volz alongside Gavin Glaza and Griffin Lehnhardt.
Following Friday's conference championship, the Blue Demons will race at the 2021 NCAA Midwest Regionals in Iowa City, Iowa on November 12.
