Blue Demons Drop Matches to Seton Hall and Marquette

Golf team opens season at BIG EAST Match Play
BELLEAIR, Fla. – The DePaul golf team started its 2020-21 season with two of the three matches at the BIG EAST Match Play. The Blue Demons came up short in their matches against Seton Hall and Marquette and take on Connecticut Tuesday morning to complete the season-opening event.
The Blue Demons lost the opening match, 0-5-1, against Seton Hall in the morning circuit at Pelican Golf Club. Perry Chong played even in his match while the five other Blue Demons lost their individual matches. Nik Gatamaytan dropped his match by a score of 7&6 while Noah Kolar was defeated at 4&3. Artemiy Yalovenko dropped a close match at 2&1 while Conor Glennon fell, 5&4, and Grant Boyson lost, 3&1.
The afternoon session saw the Blue Demons on the short end of a 1-4-1 score as Glennon came back with a 2&1 victory and Boyson played to a tie in his match. Gatmaytan fell, 3&2, while Kolar lost a tight match at 1UP. Yalovenko fell, 4&3, and Chong finished the afternoon with a 3&2 defeat.
DePaul concludes the BIG EAST Match Play on Tuesday morning with a match against Connecticut. The Huskies went 1-1 on Monday with a victory over Seton Hall and loss to Marquette.
