Blue Demons start season with two Florida events
CHICAGO – Getting out of Chicago just ahead of the weekend snowstorm, the DePaul golf team opens the 2020-21 campaign in Florida for a pair of match play events. The Blue Demons join Connecticut, Marquette and Seton Hall for the BIG EAST Match Play on Monday and Tuesday before competing in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on Feb. 8-9.
The BIG EAST Match Play features a round-robin schedule with two matches on Monday and one match Tuesday at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla. Pelican Golf Club is a par-70 layout over 7,000 yards and hosts the LPGA's Pelican Women's Championship in November.
DePaul takes on Seton Hall in its first match on Monday morning followed by an afternoon round against Marquette. The Blue Demons wrap up the match play with a Tuesday morning match with Connecticut. The lineup for head coach Marty Schiene is Nik Gatmaytan, Noah Kolar, Artemiy Yalovenko, Conor Glennon, Grant Boyson and Perry Chong.

Looking Ahead: DePaul continues the Florida swing at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City on Feb. 8-9. A season ago, the Blue Demons finished third in the eight-team event. Following the Yestingsmeier Match Play, DePaul travels to North Carolina for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on March 12-14.
The rest of schedule consists of the John Dallio Match Play (April 2), the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate (April 12-13), the Hawkeye Invitational (April 17-18) and the BIG EAST Championship (April 30-May 2).
Dallio Memorial Returns: An event in the memory of former DePaul golfer John Dallio returns to the schedule as DePaul hosts the John Dallio Match Play on April 2. The four-team event will be played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont as the program hosted a fall tournament in Dallio's name through the 2016-17 season.
2019-20 Recap: The Blue Demons finished the shortened season with six tournaments and two match play events. Five different players led the team in the six tournaments while the Blue Demons dropped a match against Loyola-Chicago to conclude the fall schedule before opening the spring slate with a third-place finish at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play.
