Javon Freeman-Liberty leads Blue Demons with game-high 19 points
NEW YORK – DePaul's season came to an end Thursday night at Madison Square Garden as the Blue Demons lost to Connecticut in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals. Javon Freeman-Liberty scored 19 points and Ray Salnave added 10 in the 94-60 loss against the Huskies.
DePaul (5-14) trailed by four midway through the first half as two free throws by Nick Ongenda made the score 15-11 with just under 13 minutes on the clock.
Connecticut (15-6) opened up the game towards the end of the first half as a 16-2 run over the final six minutes of the opening frame put the Huskies ahead, 45-22, at intermission.
The Huskies didn't let up in the second half as they scored six of the first eight points after halftime and pushed the advantage towards 30 points midway through the period.
Freeman-Liberty added four rebounds to his 19 points while Charlie Moore totaled eight points, six rebounds and two assists.
R.J. Cole, Tyrese Martin and Adama Sanogo each scored 14 points to lead Connecticut.
