Artemiy Yalovenko finishes in a tie for 12th to lead Blue Demons
KETTERING, Ohio – Artemiy Yalovenko posted his second straight round under par to finish in a tie for 12th as the Blue Demons wrapped up the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate on Tuesday. As a team, DePaul placed ninth in the three-round event.
Yalovenko's score of 68 (-2) on Tuesday gave him a tournament score of 212 (+2). His back-to-back career best rounds of 68 mark the first sub-70 rounds of his collegiate career while he also posted a career best tournament score.
Nik Gatmaytan, Noah Kolar and Perry Chong followed Yalovenko as the three players were separated by just three strokes. Gatmaytan posted a tournament total of 217 (+7) after carding a 74 (+4) in the third round while Kolar was at 218 (+8) after finishing with a 73 (+3) on Tuesday. Chong's final round of 72 (+2) put his 54-hole total at 219 (+9). Conor Glennon placed 52nd for DePaul as he shot a 73 (+3) in his third circuit at NCR Country Club for a tournament score of 224 (+14).
Host Dayton claimed the team title with a score of 835 (-5). DePaul finished in ninth place with a team total of 865 (+25). Dayton's Kyle Schmidt won the first playoff hole after finishing in a tie with Cleveland State's Zak Supelak.
DePaul goes on the road this weekend for the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City. The three-round, two-day event takes place at Finkbine Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
