DePaul Draws Rutgers in Gavitt Tipoff Games

Blue Demons and Scarlet Knights meet Nov. 18 at Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – DePaul and Rutgers will meet for the second time in the Gavitt Tipoff Games as the BIG EAST and Big Ten Conference offices announced the pairings for the annual series. The Blue Demons and Scarlet Knights will square off at Wintrust Arena on Nov. 18.
The two sides met previously in the event on Nov. 17, 2016 with the Scarlet Knights posting a 66-59 win over the Blue Demons at Allstate Arena. Rutgers holds a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series between the programs.
Game times and television network assignments will be announced at a later date. All games will be televised on FS1 or BTN.
The BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences mutually agreed to cancel last year's series after the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the start of the 2020-21 NCAA basketball season and presented scheduling and timing issues.
The Gavitt Tipoff Games is a unique early-season series played between the two conferences and named in honor of Hall of Famer Dave Gavitt, founder of the BIG EAST and basketball visionary. The distinctive series between the two conferences is named to honor the late Gavitt, who had a profound and lasting influence on the sport of basketball at the collegiate, professional and Olympic levels. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
DePaul is 2-3 all-time in the event as the Blue Demons posted a 93-78 win at Iowa in their last appearance in November 2019. The victory over the Hawkeyes marked DePaul's second straight victory in the Gavitt Tipoff Games following a 72-70 win in overtime against Penn State in November 2018 at Wintrust Arena.

2021-22 Season Ticket Information
- Fans and supporters interested in joining as new season ticket holders for the return of DePaul Basketball can now place $25-per seat season ticket deposits for the 2021-22 men's and women's basketball seasons.
- New deposits will act as commitment to priority seat selection taking place later this summer and will be applied to the cost of full season ticket packages due in the fall. By placing a deposit early, fans will gain access to the best seat locations and the ability to work with a personal ticket representative to choose their seats prior to the public on-sale date. Ticket package pricing and priority seat selection details will be announced at a later date and communicated from the DePaul Ticket Office.
- Renewing season ticket holders from 2019-20 or account holders that elected to carry-over 2020 summer payments do NOT need to place a deposit at this time. Existing season ticket holders will be contacted by the DePaul Ticket Office when the renewal period is announced.
