DePaul Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer John McCann

McCann was a 2004 inductee to the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame
CHICAGO – The DePaul athletics department recently learned of the passing of Hall of Fame member John McCann. McCann was the long-time sports information director for DePaul starting in the 1950's through the early 1970's.
McCann was a 1948 graduate of DePaul and known as the Sports Publicity Director for the athletics department. Additionally he was a Chicago Public School principal and a Navy veteran of World War II. McCann's family is synonymous with DePaul University and the athletics department as his son Kevin has served as the clock operator at DePaul basketball games for over 50 years and works in the university's College of Education. Many family members are DePaul graduates and he was inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
Services will be held at on Monday, Aug. 2 at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church. Visitation is from 9:30-11 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. St. Alphonsus Liguori Church is located at 411 N. Wheeling Road in Prospect Heights, Ill.
