Artemiy Yalovenko leads Blue Demons over first two rounds a Sand Creek CC
CHESTERTON, Ind. – The DePaul golf team completed the first 36 holes of the season with two rounds on Monday at the Valpo Fall Invitational. Artemiy Yalovenko led the Blue Demons as the team is in 10th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Yalovenko turned in scores of 76 and 80 for a two-round total of 156 (+12). He is in a group in 33rd place while Grant Boyson is tied for 37th. Boyson is one shot behind Yalovenko at 157 (+13) after scores of 76 and 81 on Monday.
Alex Vekich is tied for 45th place with a 36-hole total of 158 (+14) following consecutive circuits of Sand Creek CC with a score of 79. Fellow freshman Aarjav Patel and sophomore David Griggs are in a group in 60th place. Both players posted a tournament scorer of 163 (+19) with Patel recording rounds of 80 and 83 and Griggs going 83 and 80 during the first day.
The Blue Demons were in seventh place following a team score of 311 in the morning session. A second round total of 320 dropped DePaul to 10th place and puts the Blue Demons three shots behind ninth place North Dakota. Wright State is atop the team leaderboard with a total of 568 after two rounds on Monday. Valparaiso's Mason Bonn leads the field with a four-under total of 140.
