CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer goalkeeper Gandhi Cruz was named to the BIG EAST honor roll on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office. Cruz has now been named to two-straight BIG EAST weekly honor rolls and a total of three so far this fall.
Cruz made five saves and faced 16 shots in DePaul's 2-1 BIG EAST win over UConn on Saturday afternoon in Chicago. Over his last six matches, Cruz has not allowed more than one goal per game and has totaled four-plus saves in four of his last five starts.Â
Cruz has now been named to three BIG EAST weekly honor rolls this season and the redshirt freshman leads the conference in saves. Cruz's 30 stops in 2021 give him a 4.29 saves per game clip.
Cruz and the Blue Demons head to Evanston to face Northwestern on Wednesday before traveling east to take on no. 1 Georgetown on Saturday.
