DePaul earns award for 14th-straight year
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer was awarded the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization late last week. The Blue Demons have now received the recognition for 14-straight school years dating back to 2007.
Programs across the country are awarded for their excellent performance in the classroom throughout the 2020-21 academic year and 224 men's collegiate soccer teams earned the recognition from the organization.
The Blue Demons have won the award every year so far under head coach Mark Plotkin and have earned the recognition 17 times since 2003. The squad recorded a team GPA of 3.46 during the 2020-21 academic year.
DePaul and its student-athletes have made the transition back to in-person classes this school year. The Blue Demons have returned to a mostly normal experience on campus in Lincoln Park. As a department, DePaul Athletics has imposed high academic standards across the board. A record 189 DePaul athletes were named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team earlier this fall.
