
DePaul Drops Overtime Bout with Cleveland State

Aneesah Morrow ties single-game program record with 42 points in setback
DePaul women's basketball dropped a 90-83 overtime decision to Cleveland State at Wintrust Arena on Tuesday evening. Sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow netted a career-high 42 points, matching the program record for points in a single game, while grabbing 15 rebounds in the setback.
A total of four Blue Demons finished in double figures with Darrione Rogers and Jorie Allen recording 12 points apiece while Anaya Peoples netted 10. Rogers dished out a career-high 10 assists.
DePaul (1-2) opened the game on a 15-2 run in the first four and a half minutes before the Vikings made seven of their next nine attempts to knot the score at 23 at the end of the first quarter.
Cleveland State (2-1) held the Blue Demons scoreless for a three-minute stretch and used a six-point run to take their first lead of the game, 31-29. Consecutive buckets from Rogers and Morrow put DePaul in front 35-33 before the Vikings would even the score at 35 to send the teams into the locker room for halftime.
Through the first 20 minutes, Morrow led all scorers with 16 points and five boards while the Blue Demons cashed in 12 points off 17 Vikings turnovers.
The Blue Demons outscored the Vikings 25-16 in the third period behind 18 combined points from Morrow and Allen to take a 60-51 win into the final 10 minutes of action.
DePaul connected on just four buckets in the fourth quarter, while the Vikings knocked in 10 field goals including a three-point basket with one second remaining to send the game into overtime, tied at 76.
In overtime, Cleveland State would use a 9-2 run in the final 90 seconds of the period to claim the victory. Destiny Leo led the Vikings with 22 points.
The Blue Demons return to action on Sunday, Nov. 20 when Miami (FL) visits Wintrust Arena. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. on FloSports.
