
Pressly, Nelson Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Pair of Blue Demons earn conference recognition after 2-0 weekend
NEW YORK – DePaul volleyball's Jill Pressly and Bailey Nelson picked up BIG EAST recognition on Monday afternoon after leading the Blue Demons to a pair of sweeps over the weekend. Pressly earned Offensive Player of the Week honors while Nelson landed on the five-member Weekly Honor Roll.
Pressly led the BIG EAST last week with a total of 37 kills to average 6.17 kills per set. In a 3-0 win over Georgetown on Friday, the Plano, Texas native put up 19 kills to go along with five digs and a pair of service aces while attacking at a .357 clip. To round out the weekend the junior posted 19 kills in addition to eight digs while hitting a blistering .654 in quick work over Georgetown. Through 14 conference matches, Pressly ranks second in kills with 3.91 per set while also sitting second in points at 4.39 per set.
Nelson produced double-digit kills and hit north of .400 in both of DePaul's victories last weekend. The right side totaled 14 kills in a victory over Villanova attacking .478 and adding a pair of digs and solo block. In Saturday's dominating sweep against Georgetown, Nelson notched 14 kills and assisted in five blocks to limit the Hoyas to a .051 attacking percentage. Nelson is averaging a career-best 2.41 kills per set in her senior season.
The Blue Demons (9-17, 5-9 BIG EAST) will return to the court Nov. 12-13 with an East Coast road swing at Connecticut and Providence. DePaul will close out the regular season against Creighton and Xavier at McGrath-Phillips Arena, Nov. 18-19.
