Men's Tennis Drops Final Match at H-E-B Tournament of Champions

Despite early lead, Blue Demons fall 4-3 Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Once again, DePaul was right there primed to bring home a "W" facing tough competition in the Lone Star State.
After jumping out to a quick lead, the Blue Demons couldn't capitalize and dropped at 4-3 decision to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in their final match of the H-E-B Tournament of Champions.
DePaul dropped to 4-5 while the host Islanders improved to 10-5.
The No. 2 doubles team of Leon Huck and Lars Peder Minsaas came through with a 6-3 win over Matthieu Peres and Borja Delgado.
Tripp Tuff and Matteo Iaquinto defeated Guillermo Castaneda and Ulysse Bertrand 6-2 to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.
Coach Matt Brothers and his team needed to split the six singles matches for the victory.
At No. 1, Vito Tonejc extended his winning streak to eight in a row with a straight-set sweep by identical 6-3 scores over Matthieu Peres. The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year improved to 16-6 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the dual-match season.
Leon Huck won his second-straight tournament match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ulysse Bertrand at No. 5 singles.
The Blue Demons are back home next Saturday as XS Tennis Village to face Georgetown in their BIG EAST opener.
