Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision Saturday at No. 49 Charlotte

Three Blue Demons battle into the third set before coming up short
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It was not a good day for the Blue Demons on Saturday.
Ranked No. 49 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 75 national ranking, Charlotte swept the visitors from Chicago 7-0.
No. 1 singles player Vito Tonejc saw his 10-match winning streak halted in a 6-4, 6-4 setback to Thomas Brown.
Three of his teammates made life difficult for their 49er opponents.
Matteo Iaquinto was dead-even with Abhimanyu Vannemredd at No. 5 singles before coming up short after winning the first set 7-5 and then falling 6-3, 1-0 (10-3).
Marino Jakic bounced back from dropping the first set at No. 2 with a 6-0 result, only to fall in the third set 6-1 to Mikhail Sokolovskiy.
Tripp Tuff split the first two sets at No. 6 singles before Vasco Prata took the third set 6-2. Charlotte improved to 7-4.
Next up for DePaul (5-7) is a road trip out West to face UNLV Saturday and Seattle Sunday in Las Vegas.
