Men's Tennis Welcomes Butler Sunday to the South Side

First serve for BIG EAST matchup set for 1:15 p.m. at XS Tennis Village
CHICAGO – Welcome to the stretch run for DePaul men's tennis as coach Matt Brothers' defending BIG EAST champion ramps it up for the conference tournament.
The Blue Demons (8-11, 3-0 BIG EAST) have three matches remaining before the BIG EAST Championships April 22-24 in Cayce, S.C.
Two of those three matches are at the friendly confines of XS Tennis Village beginning with a BIG EAST encounter against Butler on Sunday.
That is followed by a nonconference showdown Wednesday at Notre Dame and the regular-season finale April 16 versus Xavier at XS Tennis.
The "Band of Brothers" is 4-0 on its home court, led by BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Vito Tonejc. The junior from Zagreb, Croatia has been tough to beat in the dual-match season with a 16-2 record including 3-0 against BIG EAST opponents.
DePaul's No. 1 singles standout will be shooting for his fourth win in a row on Sunday. He has gone 8-2 in his last 10 matches and is a sparkling 24-8 overall this season.
Teammate Luuk Wassenaar has won his last four matches and has also gone 3-0 in BIG EAST play. Matteo Iaquinto has won four-straight including 3-0 in the BIG EAST and has racked up a 19-11 overall record.
Leon Huck has won his last three matches, improving his dual record to 8-5. He is 2-1 in conference matches.
Tonejc teams with Marino Jakic as the No. 1 doubles tandem that has gone 11-7 in the dual season and 16-11 overall.
Butler enters Sunday with a 10-9 record, 2-2Â in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs have won six of their last eight matches including a 4-3 loss Friday at Xavier. In conference, Butler has beaten Georgetown and Villanova and lost to Creighton and the Musketeers.
