Blue Demons Conquer Davidson at Home Opener

CHICAGO – DePaul Men's tennis (3-2) conquered Davidson 6-1 Friday night at their 2023 home opener. Sven Moser won the fourth point for the Blue Demons, securing the team's third win of the season.

"Great 6-1 win for us against a team that beat us 4-3 last year," said head coach Matt Brothers. "Really proud of the guys for building off the momentum they took away from the Princeton win last weekend and getting it done tonight."

DePaul started the competition off strong by conquering the doubles point. Shourya Verma and Moser won the first match of the night 6-3. Freshman duo Pablo Torres Almeida and Aleksa Krivokapic held off Davidson's William Clark and Alejandro Solares 6-3 to gain the advantage.

Krivokapic rose right back into action, defeating his No. 1 singles opponent in two sets. Leon Huck followed suit, grabbing another two set win from the Wildcats at the No. 3 spot. Up 3-0, Moser stepped in and overcame his opponent 6-1, 6-2 for the team's victory.

Matches continued on at the XS Tennis Village. Almeida won his singles match against Davidson's Juan Gongora 6-3, 6-2 while Shourya Verma fell to his opponent 7-5, 6-4. Matteo Iaquinto ended the day on a high note after an exciting 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker in his first set. The Blue Demon closed out with a 7-5 second set to take the win.
