DePaul Men’s Tennis Defeats Dayton 5-2

The Blue Demons end the weekend 4-2 after winning back-to-back matches
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis increased their record to 4-2 after defeating Dayton 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Senior captain Leon Huck nabbed the team win after defeating his opponent for the Blue Demon's fourth point of the competition.
"This was a good win today," said head coach Matt Brothers. "Really proud of the guys for how they competed. Really pleased with how we are progressing—-have been putting a lot of time in on the doubles court and it paid off today. Credit to Dayton who came out really strong and fast in the singles but our guys went toe to toe with them and came out on top. Really pleased with the weekend and happy for our guys."
The team returned to XS Tennis coming off their 6-1 Davidson win. The momentum from Friday's victory lingered as the "Band of Brothers" were quick to capture the doubles point.
Duo Huck/ Jona Gitschel defeated their opponents 6-2, Shourya Verma/ Sven Moser followed suit obtaining a 6-1 victory.
The singles matches however, were not an easy feat. Freshman Pablo Torres Almeida was the first singles champion, holding off his opponent in two sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Moser added another point for the Blue Demons after overcoming Dayton's Erik Eliasson 6-4, 6-3. No. 1 singles Aleksa Krivokapic played a hard-fought three sets but fell to his opponent 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Leading the Flyers 3-1, Huck clinched the winning point with his 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) No. 3 singles win. Matteo Iaquinto played at the No. 2 singles spot but dropped his match 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Verma conquered Dayton's Georgi Mavrodiev in a three set tie-breaker for the last victory of the night 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 10-7.
