DePaul Volleyball Selected to Compete in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship

The Blue Demons will see the postseason for the first time since 2001
CHICAGO - Fresh off their first-ever BIG EAST Tournament win, DePaul volleyball was selected to the 2023 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), Sunday evening. The Blue Demons will face Southern Illinois in the opening round of competition on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.Â
The winner of Wednesday's matchup will take on the winner of Drake-Chicago State on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
This marks DePaul volleyball's first postseason appearance in over 20 years. The last time the Blue Demons tasted December volleyball was in 2001, when the team won the Conference USA Tournament and took the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.Â
The 2023 NIVC features 32 teams. The first and second rounds are scheduled for Nov. 29 - Dec. 2 with the third round slated for Dec. 5-7. The semifinals will take place between Dec. 7-10 with the championship set for Dec. 11 or 12.
This is the sixth NIVC tournament since its reboot through Triple Crown Sports. The latest champions from the event include: Boston College (2022), UNLV (2021), Georgia Tech (2019), Iowa State (2018) and Ole Miss (2017).Â
