Joey Meyer's impact on DePaul Basketball and DePaul University was huge and always under appreciated. An exceptional DePaul backcourt player in his own right, Joey was the behind-the-scenes recruiting force that catapulted Depaul and Coach Ray Meyer into a national basketball power in the late '70s and '80s.Doug Bruno
Succeeding a legend is one of the hardest assignments in sports. Joey not only succeeded Coach Ray, but led DePaul Basketball to national recognition never achieved before or since. Joe Meyer was a special coach, but an even more special person. Joey was a total winner both on and off the court, however, his greatest legacy will always be how he won: always with integrity, humility and class.
Always enjoyed my conversations with Joey Meyer when he was coaching, as a broadcaster and scout. He was so genuine. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him. https://t.co/0aMzsMOOqe

Condolences to the Meyer Family on the passing of my former DePaul Coach Joey Meyer. His impact on my life as a player at DePaul is immeasurable but his friendship after my playing career was priceless. He leaves a legacy that can’t be matched. ???????? https://t.co/K9trd3aTvB

Joey Meyer was such a part of making @DePaulHoops a household name and when it came to how he treated a young coach like me when I was at @MSU_Basketball and @MarquetteMBB he couldn’t have been more humble , helpful and easy to learn from. His care for “Coach” was incredible. RIP

A huge contributor to @DePaulHoops as Head Coach and top recruiter after his playing days, and had superlative character. First met him when I was a @DePaulU freshman in 1978, and he was as consistent a person as I have ever met.
RIP to Joey Meyer. Condolences to his family, friends and fans. ????
