Omaha Pushes Past DePaul’s Doubles Win

The Blue Demons drop their match to Omaha 2-4
OMAHA, Neb. – DePaul men's tennis (5-5) lost 4-2 to the University of Nebraska Omaha on Sunday morning. DePaul took the lead after winning the doubles point, but Omaha fought back on the singles side to capture the victory.
All three doubles competitions played out. Shourya Verma and Sven Moser fell to Omaha's Mishiro/Gaubert 3-6. Elias Anwar made his debut in the No. 3 doubles spot alongside Jona Gitschel to defeat their opponents 6-4 and secure the equalizer. Leon Huck and Pablo Torres Almeida clinched the doubles win after conquering Lawley/ Piles 7-5.
On the singles side, Anwar also made another debut at the No. 6 singles but fell 3-6, 3-6, to his opponent. The Mavericks took the lead after Gitschel dropped his match 3-6, 3-6.
Matteo Iaquinto fell to Mikhail Korkunov 6-7, 0-6 and then Moser lost in a hard fought three set battle to give Omaha the fourth point.
Huck claimed the sole singles victory of the day after conquering Lawley 6-4, 6-4. Almeida left his match unfinished but led Gaubert 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0.

The Blue Demons head to Corpus Christi, Texas for the two-day HEB Tournament of Champions on Feb. 17-18.
