DePaul Completes HEB Tournament of Champions

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. – DePaul men's tennis heads home from the 59th annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions after falling to Oral Roberts 2-4 on Saturday morning.

The Blue Demons began the day with doubles matches at 9 a.m. CT. Leon Huck and Matteo Iaquinto paired up to play Ezequiel Monferrer and Ignacio Vinas while Elias Anwar and Jona Gitschel took on Eli Brewer and Gustavo Pinho. Huck/Iaquinto dominated 6-2 but Anwar/ Gitschel fell 2-6.

On the singles side, Huck took over the No. 1 singles spot and faced off against Pinho defeating him 7-6, 6-2. Iaquinto played Vinas but lost in three sets 7-6 (10-5), 1-6, 1-6. Shourya Verma was also held off by his opponent in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 1-2.

Gitschel played at the No. 4 singles spot but fell to Oral Roberts' Jonathan Evans 6-7 (4-10), 4-6. Anwar dominated his opponent, Ricardo Filho, 6-4, 6-3.
