
Men's Tennis Opens DePaul Invite with 4-2 Victory

Anwar clinches 4th Point in DePaul Victory against Eastern Kentucky
CHICAGO, Ill. — DePaul men's tennis (6-8) conquered Eastern Kentucky University 4-2 on Thursday night. Elias Anwar nabbed the fourth point to give the Blue Demons the victory on the first day of their DePaul Invite.Â
ÂDePaul took an early lead after securing the doubles point against EKU. Duos Huck/ Almeida and Anwar/ Gitschel both defeated their opponents 6-4, and 7-6 (7-2) respectively.Â
ÂOn the singles side, Matteo Iaquinto extended DePaul's lead with a 6-0, 6-4 win against P. Brazet. Huck followed suit, winning his singles match 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot.Â
ÂEKU responded to DePaul's lead with three back-to-back singles wins to tie the competition. In the end, Anwar clinched the victory for the Blue Demons after conquering Zach White in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 comeback win.
